VITAL TRUTH

Image
There are so many distractions in this world that break us away from our God given destiny to be holy. From that period when time is not yet known, up to this present age, God has already been telling us of the things we ought to know and believe in. We have a tendency to fall away because of the many things that we encounter daily in life. We fail to hold on to what should truly be our priority and become totally oblivious of the real and genuine call of God. Today's 1st reading reminds us of this most important task that we ought to stick and commit to for our own sake and welfare. Let us grasp this vital truth as if holding on to our very life. Let us clear things up and set everything right so as to build the highest level of confidence and conviction to lead a holy life. Amen. Hallelujah! 1 Peter 1:10-16 ...the Spirit of Christ within them indicated when it testified in advance to the sufferings destined for Christ and the glories to follow them. 12 It was revealed to them...

AN INHERITANCE

We make difficult decisions in life that some people may find hard to understand. But some things whether seen or unseen, felt or not go beyond the concrete and tangible things in life. Jesus will stop at nothing just to make known to us everything about Him. If we meditate on His brokenness and woundedness on the cross we would find ourselves no longer postponing or delaying to believe 100 % in Jesus if we really want to be blessed. It is a natural reaction from most people who hear about someone entrusted a big inheritance to feel envious of his/her good fortune. I always hear people say that such person is so lucky. Actually, there is no sense in feeling that way if we just realize that we've all been handed down an inheritance from God through Jesus Christ. We are a people beyond lucky but truly blessed. We should realize by now that we are more than royalty because we are heirs of not just a great fortune but an imperishable, undefiled and unfading inheritance. Amen. Halleluj

IN A ROW

We have some fairly easy questions in life that we can answer right away but the committing part is the one thing we all have difficulty in doing. In this regard we can start by heeding the warning in today's 1st reading. We have to abandon all our hurts and injuries to the Lord, be turned to compassion for those who have caused us so much pain and forgive. God who is full of mercy and love is the one who did it first for us and we ought to follow. We must surrender and abandon everything to the Lord especially when we go through suffering and trials. We will do well to learn the basic thrust of this reading and apply it in our lives. Amen. Hallelujah! Sirach 27:4-7  When a sieve is shaken, the husks appear; so do one’s faults when one speaks. As the test of what the potter molds is in the furnace, so in tribulation is the test of the just. The fruit of a tree shows the care it has had; so too does one’s speech disclose the bent of one’s mind. Praise no one before he speaks, for it

BE IRRESISTIBLE

In today's 1st reading we can simply conclude that our God operates in very simple terms that will only require something as plain as common sense. There is nothing else more right and sensible than what it suggests. Amen. Hallelujah! James 5:13-20 13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint [him] with oil in the name of the Lord, 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful... Have you experienced being ignored by someone whom you are talking to? If yes, then you definitely can not think highly of such a person who deliberately ignores you for no reason at all. I am su

If only we will realize that complaining is almost considered as a crime then maybe we can decide against it even before doing so. Thus we need to take heed of what today’s 1 st  reading tells us. Amen. Hallelujah! Blogger Free weblog publishing tool from Google, for sharing text, photos and video. James 5:9-12 Do not complain, brothers, about one another, that you may not be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates. Take as an example of hardship and patience, brothers, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. We can never fathom the wisdom of God but we can always remain confident in the truth that His kindness is perfect and everlasting. He makes all things work for good. When we feel so helpless, miserable and alone, never ever doubt that He can't help but be the loving God that He is. God loves us so much that he will adjust to our needs and make things work for good. There is no reason for us to even dou

RICHES IN HEAVEN

Today's 1st reading serves as a warning for all of us not to be led astray by the values that this world hold dear. It is so hard not to be influenced by it because we are still in this world and detaching from it poses a more difficult task than to imbibe the ways of the world and just go with the flow without any resistance. We must master all our courage and strength in sticking to the truth and values that Jesus teaches us in the bible as in the Book of James. Amen. Hallelujah! James 5:1-6 1 Come now, you rich, weep and wail over your impending miseries. 2 Your wealth has rotted away, your clothes have become moth-eaten, 3 your gold and silver have corroded, and that corrosion will be a testimony against you; it will devour your flesh like a fire. You have stored up treasure for the last days. 4 Behold, the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5 You have lived

DOUBLE BLESSINGS

There is some truth to the famous rap song, "Don't worry be happy" if we believe that our lives is in the hands of the Lord. The enemy of happiness is not sadness but fear. Happiness is not a mood or emotion. It is a way of life.    Here are the 7 tools of happy people I learned from Bro. Bo Sanchez. 1. They create their destiny. 2. They accept forgiveness. 3. They nurture connections. 4. They find delight everywhere. 5. They embrace change. They are eternal students. 6. They trust deeply. 7. They work their purpose daily. The 7 tools address the different fears in our lives. Fear robs us of happiness. The 3 parts of the brain that control fear are the  brainstem, amygdale and the cortex. The brainstem and amygdale controls the endocrine glands which produces the fear hormones called the adrenaline and cortisone. Stress makes us unhappy. The antidote of fear is love. In 1 John 4:8 it is written, Perfect love casts out all fear. We have to fill our lives with love. Jesus

A HOLY CHAIR

Image
Today we celebrate the "Feast of the Chair of St. Peter.” Since this is the case, we might as well think of what kind of chair we are sitting at. All of us have been given a certain post in life by the Lord. We can call it a mission or a purpose in life. We have to give it our best shot and be the person God has meant us to be as we aim to fulfill our God given destiny. Whatever that is to us, it should bring about what we should all look forward to receive on that final day when we bid goodbye to our present life here on earth, our reward in heaven and the unfading crown of glory. The feast today reminded me of Sis Mila Perez with regards to some pointers for review while serving as communion minister. She told me that in order to serve during Sundays, I should come at 12 noon when our group is scheduled to serve. I could never forget that time when I was getting ready for Church and a thought suddenly came to me and felt the need to dress up differently for the Mass. I had thi
