 Trials, hardships and tribulations are all part of a Christian's life. As gold is tested through fire and so must we if we are indeed true followers of Christ. We may be at a time of difficulty in life when one failure and one disappointment come after another like an endless stream of misfortunes as a person of this world may view it. There are times when we resort to ungodly practices and get carried away by the lure of the extraordinary that arouses our curiosity and wonder. Sometimes we justify our acts by saying that it's just for the fun of it. We do not realize that we are exposing ourselves to danger and allowing the power of the dark side to get a hold on us. We simply take these things for granted and it's a pity that we fail to grasp more than anything else the wonderful and awesome truth of a God who became man for His great love for us.      Today's 1st reading tells us about the birth of Samson despite the barrenness of his mother. Every time I hear a story about barren women I can somehow relate to it because I, myself, was diagnosed before with a condition that could prevent me from bearing children.    This prompted me to take this opportunity to proclaim God's mighty power in my life.  I have 2 sons, Jude and Allan. Looking back, I just realized how God made things work out for good.  I can already appreciate how God can turn every thing in our life into a beautiful pattern. What used to be a puzzle before, I can now reconnect and put piece by piece together. Although life continues to be a mystery after solving one puzzle another comes along.    Today's 1st reading tells us of the prophecy of Jeremiah pointing to Jesus. We can see this through thousands of years in the outline of the salvation history or covenant history which goes back to the time of Adam & Eve and Noah and dates way back to 1800 BC during the time of Abraham, Moses (1200), David (means the favored one,1000), Exodus (600) to the birth of our Lord Jesus. God throughout time has sent emissaries, patriarchs, prophets and kings to declare His great love for us and in the fullness of time has ultimately revealed His love in its entirety by sending His only begotten Son Jesus who was not spared to suffer and die on the cross just to show His great love for us. All the things that have been foretold from of old have been fulfilled in Jesus.
