LIFE PATTERNS & EXAMPLES

Image
As we go on with our lives today can we claim to be really wise and understanding in the way James states it in today’s 1 st  reading? This is something we have to ask ourselves, answer honestly and commit to doing. Amen. Hallelujah! James 3:13-18 13 Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show his works by a good life in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth... It always pays to be watchful and alert at all times. Although we sometimes fail to measure up due to our own shortcomings or could be the doing of another, God assures us in today's psalm that if we fall into the trap of the enemy we can always repent with a deep remorse for our sins and resolve to make the precepts of the Lord the joy of our hearts. In doing so, we find ourselves naturally restrained from sin and maintain our innocence. It is so hard to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord if w...

JUSTICE AND FAITHFULNESS

Image
We can never fathom the wisdom of God but we can always remain confident in the truth that His kindness is perfect and everlasting. He makes all things work for good. When we feel so helpless, miserable and alone, never ever doubt that He can't help but be the loving God that He is. God loves us so much that he will adjust to our needs and make things work for good. There is no reason for us to even doubt and hold back anything from the Lord for nothing is too difficult for Him.  1 Samuel 26: 2,7-9,12-13,22-23 THE LORD WILL REWARD EACH MAN FOR HIS JUSTICE AND FAITHFULNESS If we are confident of God's  Providence  in our lives then nothing should even make us doubt that God is able to redeem us and take us out of misery. God has made known His kindness, mercy and secures justice for all. He knows exactly what we need at the precise moment and brings forth everything in its appointed time. Furthermore, God wanted to take our transgressions as far as the east is from t...

THE TRANSFIGURATION

Image
There are some things better left unsaid. We need to choose the words that we say and if we do say them then we really have to mean them. Amen. Hallelujah!   Letter of James 3,1-10.   ...but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. This need not be so, my brothers ... Trustworthiness, honesty and sincerity is the key. We must strive to maintain without question the integrity of our character. It is not an easy thing to do and something we need a lot of, is grace coming from God. Amen. Hallelujah!   Psalm 12:2-3, 4-5, 7-8 R: You will protect us, Lord. 1 [2] Help, O Lord! for no one now is dutiful; faithfulness has vanished from among the children of men. 2 [3] Everyone speaks falsehood to his neighbor; with smooth lips they speak, and double heart. (R) 3 [4] ...

EXPECTANT FAITH

Image
Sometimes we are confronted with situations wherein we need to make some decisions that may entail giving up something that is obviously benefiting us. This is very difficult to do but if we have this expectant faith then we can choose to forgo of it since we are anticipating something better. Abraham demonstrated a great act of faith that is active with works that we should all aim to have. When situations like it arise we are sometimes tempted to decide in favor of what is convenient, comfortable and practical. But we just can not deny the fact that there are times too when the circumstances are pointing toward the other direction and our gut feeling is also whispering in agreement. Somehow this scenario is often encountered in our own lives and we just do not know anymore which way to go. It is in these moments that we must not lose faith and rely on the words and promises of God for they are trustworthy. Everything we lift to God in prayer and in doing so can surely receive g...

TOUGH LOVE

Image
It's tough to love the unlovable much more to love them as ourselves. I had the chance of watching the movie of Pope John Paul II and was very touched by his love for the poor and the sick. He visited Mother Teresa and even said that if it is only possible he would rather stay    and exercise his office right at the heart of the place where the abandoned and rejected of the society are. The 1st reading today reminds us to have the willingness to always be of service to whoever that person may be. Amen. Hallelujah!  James 2:1-9 My brothers and sisters, show no partiality as you adhere to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. For if a man with gold rings and fine clothes comes into your assembly, and a poor person in shabby clothes also comes in, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say, “Sit here, please, ” while you say to the poor one, “Stand there, ” or “Sit at my feet, ” have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become j...

LIFE WITH MEANING

Image
Let us be very careful in our commitment to follow God by not altering or obscuring the true intent of God's law. We should not look at the 10 commandments as something that is meant to make life difficult for us but instead be considered a perfect gift to mankind. A gift that is meant to be valued and used as intended. It is important that we become fully aware of it and be doers not just hearers of the word of God to maintain and sustain our purity. We have often heard people say, "If it's nice and beautiful then it must be good." We have to make a clear distinction of this because it's like we're in a masquerade ball. We're in for a lot of excitement because everyone is all dressed up in a costume and mask. Let us not be carried away and stick to the perfect rather than the imperfect gift in disguise. The reality of temptation is something we all experience. Its sources are the world, the flesh and the devil. We should be aware of it and not take for ...

THE KNOWLEDGE WE SHOULD ALL SEEK

Image
The message has been very consistent since yesterday through the 1st reading also taken from the Book of James. We should be aware of it and not take for granted. It is so powerful that if it goes unchecked could lead us to sin. Sometimes we are fooled into believing that God causes all the things that happen in our lives even the bad ones. We are being corrected by James from this wrong mindset and made to realize that we have a loving God who wills all good things for us. We have our free will an...
