MIDDLE GROUND 2

Image
The Lord reminds us so many times in the scriptures not to become 2 face or in tagalog "doble kara" We've got to make a stand on which side we really are. Sometimes we have this notion that we can continue doing what we do even if there is something wrong with it and just compensate by offsetting it with something good. Eventually things will toll up on us and would have to make a stand so that we don't end up losing everything.  St. Paul  says in 1 Corinthians 10:21-22, "You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and also the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and of the table of demons. Or are we provoking the Lord to jealous anger? Are we stronger than he?" It is only right and fitting that we give 100% loyalty to God who deserves all that we can give. There really is no middle ground. Today's 1st reading tells us the same things as prophets of old, the apostles and gospel writers in Jesus' time. Amen. Hallelujah! Jeremiah 7:1-...

PERFECT LOVER

Image
No other relationship can ever surpass the height or intensity of God's love for us. If we enter freely into this relationship then we are bound to experience the best and absolutely nothing can ever come between us, amen. Songs 3: 1-4 (or 2Corinthians 5:  14-17 or Micah 7: 14-15 ,1 8-20) ...Have you seen him whom my heart loves? 4 I had hardly left them when I found him whom my heart loves. I took hold of him and would not let him go till I should bring him to the home of my mother, to the room of my parent. Only the love of our Lord God can satisfy all our longings and desires. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. We can never find true satisfaction unless we find Jesus. “My soul is restless until it rests in You” (St. Augustine) No amount of wealth, fame and glory in this world can satisfy our longings. What are we doing on this earth? We are here to know, love and serve God. Where is our God? He is nearer to us than we are to ourselves. He is in the depths of ou...

MIDDLE GROUND

Image
We’ve got to straighten up some things about God. Who He is and what He wants for our life. What is our picture of God? It’s not surprising to know that most of us think that God doesn’t want us to have fun. It’s like all the things that we want to do with our friends that are interesting and exciting when we were young are against God’s commandments. It may seem like we have to settle for less. What’s worse is that all the faithful Catholics get less out of life. This is part of the propaganda way back in the Garden of Eden. God gave us a magnificent paradise wherein there is perfect intimacy and no shame with each other. In the Garden they have everything they need but gave just one limit, not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This is very interesting because God said, “Don’t do this because you will die.” The reason why God commands us something is because He is a loving Father who cares for us. He wants us to have the best. But then came the serpent, who di...

NURTURE THE SOIL

Image
The Lord has spoken so many times about His everlasting love and devotion to us. If we are always focused on this then we will surely emerge victorious in all our battles in this life. God knows each one of us in a very special way even before we were born. This truth should make us realize that none of us came to life by accident or chance. We have all been called for a mission and a purpose in life. If we live life embracing this truth at all times then we can be assured that our Creator and God who is a loving Father to all of us would see us through whatever it is that we are going through right now. There are times when we wonder how we ever get to certain situations in our life and where we are right now. Sometimes we just couldn’t put it together or quite amazed how it all came to be. Being in a foreign land like the US it feels good to uphold and promote our Filipino values and legacy.  If you were born a Filipino then I am sure God has deemed it best that you become...

THE GIFT CALLED THE PRESENT

Image
We can sometimes easily change our minds and decide against something that we were just considering at one moment. It could be contradictory to what we were earlier stating but it happens to all of us and can not deny that's how we are at times. Our minds can only be occupied with and focused on a few things if not just one at a particular time. No matter how good and brilliant we may be, we all have our limitations. We may be up to something yesterday but can suddenly change today and could definitely not tell what tomorrow may bring. Everything seems to be uncertain except for the fact that we have a God that is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever as in today's 1st reading and that is all that matters. There is none like God. There is no one and nowhere to go but only to God. We have to decide once and for all to live for Jesus alone.  It is time we have a grasp of the depth of God's love and mercy. Without realizing this we can never come to appreciate how ...

REVERSE PSYCHE & QUICK FIXES

Image
We really have to grow up! We're no longer kids who need to be told the opposite. Reverse psychology sometimes work especially on children aged 2-4 who are said to be going through the negativity stage but we know that we can do better than that. As mature individuals we find it insulting if somebody will tell us to do the exact opposite of what they want us to do. God would always give us the right instructions and would not resort to giving the opposite. God respects us and will always treat us with dignity. So let us decide to act in accordance to this. Nothing in this world can be more rewarding than what the 1st reading tells us today. There are so many things we can benefit a lot from but they are quick fixes and do not last long. Somehow we can always derive something out of our efforts or things could be worse when we totally get nothing out of it in cases when we mess up things. If the case is that we were able to get something out of it, whether it is there to stay a li...

WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

In today’s 1 st  reading, Abraham was visited by 3 men whom he showed hospitality despite the fact that he had never met them before. There are times when we think negatively and consider some of the good things we have done as lost and gone. Especially if we do it to people whom we barely know, could not return the favor and could not    benefit in us in some ways. Such as these would never be the case if we consider everything we do as a form of service to God. It makes a whole lot of difference when the people we’re doing a great favor are dear and close to us. To extend hospitality to someone who is almost a stranger and could not return the favor nor expect anything from them is truly noble. Abraham was rewarded for his good deeds by God Himself who never lets anything go unnoticed especially those we offer in service to God. Since I arrived in the  US  in May 19, 2007 I never had a hair cut in almost 10 years. My hair grew so long that a lot of peop...
