  No amount of planning and hard work combined can ever prosper if it will not blessed by the Lord. For everything will all be wasted if you plan ahead of God and work for something that is not according to God's design. It is foolish for us to think that we can escape or get away with something without God noticing it. Today's 1st reading is a foolishness that we are all sometimes guilty of. We all make plans for ourselves but sometimes we do not take into consideration whether it is in accordance to God's will or not. We make all kinds of excuses and justifications for ourselves thinking that in the end we would all come out clean and justified. No matter what we do if we do not put God first then that plan would never prosper and even if it does it would only be to a certain extent that we would eventually find ourselves still unfulfilled and unsatisfied.     No one I guess, in this whole wide world can look at a rainbow and not be amazed by the beauty it holds. We can all appreciate its colorful array and marvel how such an image can be painted in the sky. There is more to it than what we see. The most important and precious thing about a rainbow is revealed in today’s 1 st  reading. Nothing beats the beautiful, sweet and marvelous way of God in conveying to us His great pledge of love. Let us always be reminded of this covenant and never take its real meaning for granted.   There is a time for everything. There is a reason for every season. God knows exactly what He is doing when He assigned these things for He is a God of order. We may be going through a period of waiting and it seem like nothing good is ever going to happen. Let us not lose hope for God knows the best and the right time when things are supposed to happen, Amen! Today’s 1st reading tells us of the story of Noah and the Ark. In order for us to understand better this story from the Old Testament we need to see what the New Testament writers say about it as in Mt. 24: 37-39, For as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In (those) days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be (also) at the coming of the Son of Man.     The Lord relented in wiping out all of creation because Noah found favor with the Lord. He always gives us all the chances we could possibly get. Just like in the case of Noah during his time, it is always man who does not respond to God's mercy and grace. It is about time that we act on this truth and not let it just pass us by and find ourselves drowning and lost as in those people who did not follow Noah's example.    I have heard several times already the story of Cain and Abel. It illustrates very well the good and the evil. I guess, in this present time we need not look far and wide in order to see the story of Cain and Abel happening all over again, it may not be in the exactly the same manner but it's quite obvious that people nowadays are easily lured and deceived by the lurking presence of the enemy. If only we become more vigilant and alert then we can easily offset the tactics of the evil one. We are the ones who call the shots, in other words the master instead of the other way around because we emerge as the victor and not the victim by not allowing sin to lord over our lives. We can not run away from the consequences of our wrongdoings. It will always haunt us unless we truly be sorry for it and repair what we have done.     Men and women are always trying to unravel the secrets of how to look young and stay healthy. Scientists are working doubly hard to discover something that will reverse or arrest the aging process or find cure for certain illnesses and diseases. If the question is how to stay fresh amidst the harsh conditions we are in and still bear fruit, look no further for the answer is in today's 1st reading although it also contains a very unpopular part of Jeremiah’s prophecy. Everything we need has always been provided for by the Lord and all we have to do is follow His instructions to us. It is just right and proper that we constantly consult the word of God in order for us to not be led astray. The battle between good and evil is on and does not rest so we all need to always be vigilant and mindful of our every action.
