    How we live our life in each passing day is a testimony of how we follow the will of God in our lives. There is a need to constantly and regularly connect to God everything that we do. If we make a conscious effort to do this everyday then we'll surely find it easier to obey the things that God wants us to do and be more sensitive in knowing the will of God in our lives. If we will just honestly and sincerely seek God then we will surely find Him. As we do this we will eventually discover a lot of things that we need to know in order to live our faith in accordance to God's will and be able to overcome all trials and difficulties that come our way.    It is really important that we know and follow the instructions of God as in today's 1st reading when God rained down bread from heaven and tested whether the Israelites will follow or not.    What a mighty God we serve! I can never forget the cartoon movie, “The Prince of Egypt”. Today's 1st reading was animated in the said film. I watched it together with my 2 sons who were still very young then.    I fervently hope and pray that the lessons taught in the movie will forever be etched in their hearts as I continuously plead God for their well being today and for the rest of their lives. Sometimes we sound just like the Israelites in today's 1st reading when we question God's will in our lives when we encounter hardships and difficulties.    The Israelites regretted having left  Egypt  and gone with Moses to the Promised Land. They were in the stage of “If only I had known that this would happen then I could have gone back.” We may be in a situation when we can most definitely relate to the Israelites, especially when there are moments when we suddenly feel that we could have been better off if we hadn't obeyed or followed what God w...

   In today’s 1 st  reading, Abraham was visited by 3 men whom he showed hospitality despite the fact that he had never met them before. There are times when we think negatively and consider some of the good things we have done as lost and gone. Especially if we do it to people whom we barely know, could not return the favor and could not    benefit us in some ways. Such as these would never be the case if we consider everything we do as a form of service to God. It makes a whole lot of difference when the people we’re doing a great favor are dear and close to us. To extend hospitality to someone who is almost a stranger and could not return the favor nor expect anything from them is truly noble.    Today's 1st reading marks a very significant event in the life of the Israelites when they were led out of  Egypt . It just shows that God is able to lead us out of whatever  Egypt  situation we are in. He keeps watch over us and will never forsake nor abandon. Nothing is ever beyond the knowledge, reach and care of our God. Amen.     When I was just new in the charismatic I always hear people pray for the blood of Jesus to cover and protect us. Today's 1st reading is a foreshadowing of the sacrificial blood of Jesus poured in  Mt.   Calvary  for the redemption of our sins. It reminds us of the power of the blood of the lamb that shielded the Israelites from any destructive blow. Let us cloth ourselves with the blood of Jesus, let us not forget what Jesus did for us so that God's mercy will always be upon us. The blood that marked the houses of the Jews during the Passover spared them from death. We, as true believers and followers of Christ had been marked with the Most Efficacious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.   The 1st reading for today reminded me of my experience in St. Martha's Church when I was just new in the parish in 2008. I was so surprised when I saw the statue of Jesus in St. Martha Church here in  West Covina .    It was a first Friday of Feb 2008 when I saw this statue of Jesus with an extended right arm holding His heart on his hand. Tita Piling was with me then so I asked her if that is a statue of the Sacred Heart because I have never seen anything like one before, but she simply nodded her head. That was how I saw it. It appeared to me like He was handing over His heart to me. But on the day we went for Sunday mass I found out that the image/statue which I envisioned was not how I saw it on that day with Jesus extending his arm offering His heart on his hand.     To my surprise when I came closer to the statue, I realized that it is indeed the Sacred Heart of Jesus but not as I had seen it on the 1 st  Friday of that month.     When I was still in the  Philippines  discerning and weighing my decision to come here to the  US , the gospel reading way back in Feb. 4, 2007 caught my attention, confirmed    and gave me confidence in what I was planning to do and eventually did. It was specifically the bible passage in Luke 5:4-6 "Jesus said to Peter, "Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch." Simon said in reply, "Master we have worked hard all night and caught nothing but at your command I will lower the nets." When they had done this they caught a great number of fish their nets were tearing." Just like Peter who was skeptical at that time, I was also feeling so unsure about my decisions then and this phrase really had a great impact on me back then coupled with the priest's homily that went with it.
