THANK GOD FOR THE TRIALS

Image
There are days when we get very lonely although some people have a way of coping with such situations there are also some who do not. In one of God’s Children prayer meetings, the sharing revolved on the trials and sufferings which people have experienced. Everything pointed to the truth that God delivers and saves His people. He is always at work in the lives of those who are open to the miracles and wonders. God does not run out of them. He is always filled with love and mercy and the hands of the Lord is an infinite treasure of grace ready to be dispensed. One thing we have to keep in mind when we go through hard times is that everything is in transition. Nothing stays the same only the love of God. We should be confident of this love and never faint nor falter. Whatever we are going through right now, God knows very well and He will never leave nor forsake us. Amen. Hallelujah! Job 7: 1-4, 6-7 ... So I also have had empty months, and have numbered to myself wearisome nights. 4 If I

SINAI & ZION

Image
Today’s 1 st  reading from Hebrews was explained by Fr. Mitch Pacwa in EWTN. The covenant in  Mt.   Sinai  is compared with the new covenant in Christ as in  Mt.   Zion . As written in Hebrews, where there are things that describe which could not be touched and approached in  Mt.   Sinai  which showed the fearfulness of touching the holy mountain. This covenant in  Mt.   Sinai  deserves great respect and gives us a sense of awe with a feeling of being terrified and much trembling as described of Moses. In contrast Mt Zion is where the temple is and where anybody could approach. It is described with concentric circles as in levels wherein anybody could come in. It symbolizes the Promised Land to come, in which God dwells among his chosen people. Peace offerings are being burned and fill the place with a certain sense of festive mood and scent of cooking meat. This could be taken to mean as a symbol of heaven which is mentioned    also in 1 Peter 2:6 For it says in scripture: "Beh

TRAINING GROUND

Image
When we have already experienced various levels of discipline in the Lord and went through what we could say the longest and most elaborate process while waiting for the answers to our prayers and thriving purely on the Divine Providence of God then this consolation from today's 1st reading assures us that in the end everything is worth it. Every trial and hardship we encounter is our training ground and   could gain for us a vast amount of learning which could benefit us not only intellectually, emotionally and spiritually but most of all in unforeseen and countless ways that could only be acquired through that experience. We have to come to this realization and continue to keep our hopes up in the one and only Lord Jesus who can make all things possible for us. Amen. Hallelujah!  Letter to the Hebrews 12,4-7.11-15. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood... "My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord or lose heart when r

THE SILVERSMITH & THE SPARROWS

Life is never easy and fair at times.    If we go through trials and hardships and sometimes lose heart when confronted by our doubting and questioning minds then we should always stand firm in our principles and convictions anchored in Jesus. No matter how difficult it may seem we must not lose sight of what kind of suffering Jesus had to go through    and all our problems will fade in the background. Nothing we do in our entire lifetime will ever seem fit for a God who is perfect in countless ways and will always fall short of His glory. We just have to be thankful that God never gives up on anyone of us for He looks not on our sins but on our faithfulness. We always have a choice to improve, move forward and not lag behind. After all the years and experiences God is continuously at work in us and will always look forward to that day when we will come to be with Him, perfected through Jesus and united with Him in His wonderful kingdom in heaven. We should always have the attitude o

WITNESSES

Image
Today’s 1 st  reading describes the courageous faith of many Old Testament (OT) heroes describing their persecutions, asceticism, and the martyrdoms they endured. The reason for this recounting of these holy OT figures is summarized in the 1 st  sentence of Heb. 12, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith.” Notice the mention of a great cloud of witnesses, this refers not only to their testimonies in martyrdom, by the way the Greek word for witness is martyrs, it also refers to the fact that the saints now in heaven are witnessing from above. They are observing how we run the race toward our heavenly reward now that it’s our turn. Notice also that the same Gk. word for witness, martyrs which is used to describe those in heaven is found in other passages such as those

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We sometimes fall prey to the trap of the enemy when we succumb to temptations. There are instances when we say words that we don't mean or fail to say words that we should have said. We sometimes ask ourselves things like, I should have said it or I shouldn't have said it. Definitely, there are words which you really need to say and some also that are better left unsaid. We really have to be careful about the words we say and be bold enough to speak out the words that should be said. Amen. Hallelujah!  Deuteronomy 18:15-20 ...and will put my words into his mouth; he shall tell them all that I command him.19 If any man will not listen to my words which he speaks in my name, I myself will make him answer for it. 20 But if a prophet presumes to speak in my name an oracle that I have not commanded him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, he shall die.’” Today's psalm reading is used as a preparatory psalm in the Liturgy of the Hours just as it was used in the Old T
